This series, “Horse Sense for Humans”, is straight from the horse’s mouth (translated by me!) You’ll get to meet some of my equine team as well as some other horses I’ve worked with over the years as they share some of their client experiences from their point of view!

I hope you enjoy!

“A Mother's Heart”

Hello, it’s me, Coach Lilly,

A young woman has entered our pasture with a chair. She feels very soft and open. I think I’ll stay nearby and see if she needs me.

She writes in her journal and tears are rolling, rolling down her cheeks. I feel deep sadness all rolled up in love.

The other horses are moving out to the higher grass, they don’t understand this young mother the way I do.

I’m going to stand closer now so she can feel me next to her. As the sadness and love roll out of her (us), I feel it flow through me and into the earth. I need to stretch my neck and jaw as it moves through me. My heart feels bigger.

We are breathing together now. Easy and deep. It feels natural to be quiet like this. We stay this way for a long time.

Now she is shifting, her mood has lightened. The young woman stands up and puts her hand on my side. I turn and put my nose on her heart. Tears roll down her face again but her heart feels light and happy now. So does mine!

She tells me “Thank You, Lilly. I needed that.”

(Big sigh, licking and chewing) Yes, I feel the same way. Because you see, I was a mother once too.

Thank You for your contributions to this work and thank you for reading.
