Listen Here:

In this episode we’re going to consider Quantum Leap Principle #6: Acceptance of What Is
Acceptance of What Is
Horses have a huge capacity for accepting the here and now.
When a horse is basking in the warm sun on a cool day, she is not lamenting the fact that every day is not like this. She is simply experiencing the moment, standing in what is.
When the rains roll in and the wind kicks up she does not practice gratitude for the warm sun of yesterday in hopes that it will bring it back. She does not try to manifest a sunny day or put on a ‘happy face’ in order to get through the storm. She does what she can to make herself comfortable.
She will move to shelter if it’s available. if not, she turns her butt toward the storm to protect her face and stands in what is.
When we accept what is happening in this moment we can embrace our strength and resilience.
If the horse tried to resist the storm by running or kicking at the wind she would expend precious energy on something she can do nothing to change.
She knows eventually the storm will pass.
-
What storm or turmoil are you running and kicking at in hopes of manifesting a change?
-
What do you need to do now in order to make yourself comfortable so you can stay ready and alert to what wants to happen next?
If your energy is focused on what is not going right for you, then you won’t have the energy to move forward when the opportunity for change is in front of you.
I often reflect on the Serenity Prayer when I find myself in what feels like unacceptable circumstances.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.
I will end on that note.
We’re going to talk about Courage to change the things we can in episode #10.
